Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Armquill ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Armquill is a cloud-based collaborative document editing platform that allows users to create, edit, compile, and share documents in various markup languages including LaTeX, Typst, AsciiDoc, and Markdown.
3. User Accounts
Age Requirement: You must be at least 16 years old to create an account and use the Service. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent's or legal guardian's permission to use the Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that a user is under 16, we will terminate their account.
When you create an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Maintain the security of your password
- Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
4. Subscription Plans and Pricing
Armquill offers both free and paid subscription plans. Our current plans include:
- Free: Limited projects and storage, basic features
- Basic: Unlimited projects, increased storage, Git version control
- Student: Enhanced storage and collaborators (requires student verification)
- Premium: Maximum storage, collaborators, and priority features
Current pricing is available on our Pricing page. We reserve the right to modify pricing with 30 days notice to existing subscribers.
5. Payment and Billing
Paid subscriptions are processed securely through Stripe, our third-party payment processor. By subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to the following:
- Billing Cycles: Subscriptions are available in monthly, 6-month, and annual billing cycles
- Automatic Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled
- Payment Method: You must provide a valid payment method. You authorize us to charge this payment method for all fees incurred
- Price Changes: Price changes for existing subscriptions take effect at the next billing cycle after 30 days notice
- Failed Payments: If payment fails, we may suspend access to paid features until payment is resolved
All prices are displayed in Euros (EUR) and include applicable taxes where required.
6. Cancellation and Refunds
Cancellation:
- You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Profile settings or the Stripe billing portal
- Upon cancellation, you retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period
- After the billing period ends, your account reverts to the Free plan
- Your documents and projects remain accessible, subject to Free plan storage limits
Refunds:
- We offer a 14-day satisfaction guarantee for new subscriptions. Contact support within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund
- Refunds for renewals are considered on a case-by-case basis
- No refunds are provided for partial billing periods or unused time after the 14-day period
- Refund requests can be made by contacting support@armquill.com
7. Student Plan Verification
The Student plan is available exclusively to currently enrolled university or college students. To access Student plan benefits, you must:
- Subscribe to the Student plan
- Submit valid proof of enrollment (student ID, enrollment certificate, or equivalent)
- Complete verification within 30 days of subscription
If verification fails or is not completed within 30 days, you may:
- Submit additional documentation for re-review
- Switch to a different plan (Basic or Premium)
- Request a refund under our satisfaction guarantee (if within 14 days)
We reserve the right to request re-verification annually. Providing false information about student status may result in account suspension.
8. Referral Program
Armquill may offer a referral program that rewards users for referring new subscribers. Program terms:
- Referral rewards are subject to change and may be modified or discontinued at any time
- Rewards are only granted for legitimate referrals that result in paid subscriptions
- Self-referrals, fraudulent referrals, or abuse of the program may result in forfeiture of rewards and account suspension
- Referral discounts cannot be combined with other promotions unless explicitly stated
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Upload malicious code or content
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Infringe on intellectual property rights
- Distribute spam or unsolicited communications
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems
- Share account credentials or allow unauthorized access to your subscription
10. Intellectual Property
You retain ownership of all content you create using the Service. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
11. Service Availability
We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice when possible. Scheduled maintenance will be announced in advance when feasible.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Armquill shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of or inability to use the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption.
Maximum Liability: In no event shall Armquill's total cumulative liability to you for all claims arising from or related to the Service exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you paid to Armquill in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred Euros (€100). This limitation applies regardless of the form of action, whether in contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. If these laws apply to you, some or all of the above limitations may not apply, and you may have additional rights.
13. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, including non-payment of subscription fees. You may also delete your account at any time through your account settings.
Upon termination:
- Access to the Service will be revoked
- You may request a data export before account deletion
- No refunds are provided for termination due to Terms violations
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or through the Service at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and the member state where Armquill is registered. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
16. Open Source Software
Armquill is built using various open source software components. We gratefully acknowledge the open source community and comply with all applicable open source licenses.
